The procedure for milling combustible material is esp. for pulverising coal in milling-drying installations with fine screening and grit recycling. The grit is exposed to varying air or gas pressures between screening and finish milling. The backwards-flowing stream of grit has a liquid, partic. water, added, pref. in metered quantities. When used for the milling-drying process, this greatly reduces the danger of high-temp. gas, leaking in due to the pressure variations, initiating combustion.
