The automatic, load adjustable brake pressure control has a rear braking system regulated independence on load, while the front brakes are unaffected. When loaded, a rocker arm (7) in the regulator housing opens a valve (18, 19) with a delay, as the load increases so that brake pressure build-up reacts to the increasing brake pressure. Should the front brakes fail, pressure is released from the valve chamber (28) above the regulator valve value, thus allowing the valve to open so that the intact rear brakes bring the lorry to a standstill.
