Braiding of oppositely stranded electric or optical cable - uses oppositely wound braiding elements aligned to cable strands so that change-over points do not coincide

The stranded electrical or optical cable is braided by strip or fibre material, supplied from a store, outside the braiding axis, via an advance and a main store. The braiding and winding changes section-wise over the stranded cable. The opposite stranding of the cable and the sectional braiding, as represented by the holding coil, are so aligned that the reversing points do not coincide. The reversing point of the braiding lies in the middle between the reversing point of cable stranding. The effective length of the holding coil may be continuously changed. The braiding and stranded cable may be directly inserted into the stranding nozzle, from which it is moved through a guide tube. Immediately after braiding, the cable assembly may be fitted with a coating sheath by extrusion.
