Stations, connected to a common remote control system, have their own addresses. Recognition of the moment at which it can respond depends upon a computation carried out on the last received telegram for another station and its own number or address. A specific start sequence is applied to a station or stations newly reconnected to the system. Each station is given a max stagger time dependent upon a timer and its own address. This time is chosen to be so long that in the period a legitimate telegram is sent to some other station. This is then recognised and the position in the time series of the incoming station computed. If no such telegram is received a second, shorter, time cycle commences. The proposed method makes practically certain that no error arises on reconnection.
