Direction indicator system for tanks - has pattern of electrical indicators for tank signalling in wide range of conditions

The signalling system is for use by army tanks and is intended to give all weather capability and all round visibility. The system is intended to allow lead tanks in particular to signal directional changes clearly. A pattern of opto electrical indicators (8) are located on two facets of the tank turret (2) such that they may be seen from either left or right. The indicators may be switched to generate arrows, circles, bars, etc. High power discharge lamps are used to provide ease of viewing in bright sunlight. The lamps may produce a horizontal row (6) or an obtuse angle of 270 degrees (7) and include signal elements (5).
