Grinding belt, a method for its production and use of this abrasive belt, for the profile grinding

The belt (1) for profile grinding is made from a woven fabric (2) coated with a layer of abrasive material (3). The warp threads of the fabric are arranged so that they form an acute angle with the direction of motion of the belt. The middle region (A) of the belt is reinforced by impregnation, coating, or by bonding to a reinforcing strip (4). The stiffness of this middle region is thus increased so that a force of 80N per cm produces an extension of less than 5 per cent, whilst the outer regions have an extension of at least 8 per cent.
