The panels are used for facing external walls. A stable rectangular underlay panel (2) has a facing layer (3) of strips of clinker (4) laid on it, with joints cut out in mortar. Its length and width correspond to the grid pattern of the laid clinker strips. Rows of strips can be offset by half strip width, with alternate rows containing whole strips and terminating with the underlay panel, or having one strip less so as to end with a half-width space. Underlay panels can be made of chipboard. Completed panels can be transported on site, ready for mounting.
