The collector plate is for a flat solar collector, and comprises a flat even plate structure (1), through which a large number of slightly-tapering funnels (2) extend. The lengthwise axes of the funnels are at right angles to the plane of the plate, and they have reflective inside surfaces (3). The funnel taper angle can be between 3 and 4 deg., and they can be of polygonal cross-section, while there can be a cylindrical passage inside the plate connected to the larger end of each, and of the same cross-section. A similar passage can be connected to the smaller end of each, and of the same cross-section as the latter.
