Automobile component esp. hatch back door - produced as one moulding of transparent material and later selectively lacquered

A panel-like plastics component, esp. a rear tilting door of a passenger automobile, is produced in a single piece as follows. The component is formed (moulded) from transparent plastics material, and then the non-transparent zones (i.e. zones other than the window) are dyed to render them non-transparent. The method eliminates all the disadvantages associated with the construction of a separate window with frame, etc. A suitable plastics material (not claimed) is polycarbonate. The opaque zones are produced by lacquering.
