Input keyboards for different function layouts - using interchangeable cover plates with layout codes and corresp. unit decoder

摘要

An input keyboard has a key field (2) enclosed by or integrated in a cover plate (1). Each key is associated with a function selected from different possibilities. The indiVidual key appear on the plate. Keyboard layout changes can be simply accomplished and indicated. The seVeral different key/function associations are held in a memory. Each is accessible by using an individual code word making it available to fix the individual key input functions. Several different interchangeable cover plates are used. Each corresp. to a partic. stored key/function layout. Each cover plate carries coded elements. These are evaluation by a decoder (6) in the input unit which produces the words corresp. to the plate layout.
