The invention relates to a cooled spout (channel, launder) made of cast iron with embedded cooling tubes, which is preferably used as a slag launder on blast furnaces. The aim of the invention is to reduce the heavy physical work involved in the preparation of a slag spout on a metallurgical furnace and reduce the costs for its manufacture. The object of the invention is to find a spout for the removal of molten slag, in particular blast furnace slag or the like, which allows a considerably longer service life while using low grades of material and a simple design. The object is achieved, according to the invention, by virtue of the fact that, preferably in the region of the impingement of the slag stream on the spout, the spout consists of a casting with embedded cooling tubes. The cooling tubes are arranged in such a way in the casting that the coolant first of all flows through the area of maximum thermal loading, for which purpose a division of the cooling system into two cooling circuits is advantageous.
