A liquid for setting dental cements is provided, in which an aqueous solution of a copolymer of acrylic and maleic acids contains a tetrahydrofurantetracarboxylic acid alone or in combination with at least one of tartaric acid, a fluorocomplex salt and a specific organic carboxylic acid. The specific organic carboxylic acid is expressed by the general formula: CmHn(COOH)x(OH)
