For a system for producing flat fibres or ribbons (4), especially from webs of plastic film, there is proposed a blade-carrying rail which is intended for longitudinally cutting the fed two-dimensional structure (3) and makes it possible to change cutters without interrupting cutting and therefore to achieve a much higher level of productivity than systems with other known blade-carrying rails (1). According to the invention, preferably six blades (9) are inserted into rectangular grooves (8) which are distributed around the circumference, are situated in the same normal plane and have been cut into the blade-carrying rail (5). The cutting planes are separated by means of spacing rings (11) to the desired ribbon width and the entire blade-carrying rail is axially braced by means of a union nut (13). By means of a ratchet wheel (15), the blade-carrying rail (1) can be turned onwards as the engaged blades (9) are exchanged. In this process, the unused row of cutting edges (10) is rotated, without setting, by means of a special arrangement of the blades (9), into the cutting paths of the row of cutters moved out of cutting engagement.
