Pressure cooker with continuous top pan flange - has seal formed by returned half of lid perimeter with sliding edge cover of similar length

The pressure cooker has a pan (1) with a continuous top external edge flange (2). The seals between the pan and the lid are obtained by returning (5) the edge of the lid (3) for half its periphery, and providing a sliding edge cover (6) of a similar length. The lid edge (5) and the sliding cover (6) are of a similar section approximating to a 'U', with lower leg end returns (7, 8) bearing on the underside of the pan flange (2). A self-sealing gasket (3) is provided between both the lid return (5), the sliding cover (6) and the pan flange (2). A low friction slide block (9) guides the edge cover (6) during displacement.
