The two-stroke four cylinder engine rotates about the crankshaft (6b). The crankshaft is mounted in bearings supported by the fixed circular housing. A train of bevel gears between the crankshaft and cylinder assembly causes the crankshaft to rotate in the opposite direction to the cylinder assembly. Eight electrical contacts (15) are provided at points around the housing and generate a spark in the plugs (14) as they pass. Cooling air is admitted through a central port on one side of the housing and expelled through ports on the other side of the housing. The rotating cylinders improve the efficiency of lubrication and the efficiency of the airflow into the engine.
