摘要
The procedure for construction of timber framed roofs for houses, involves the highest ceiling (1) being fabricated independently of the roof framework. The principal rafters (9) are joined by a simple tie-beam (10) and their feet are secured in two longitudinal beams (5), disposed on the ceiling, and provided with a V-shaped notch (6). The longitudinal beams can be secured to the ceiling by nails, having sufficient mechanical resistance to resist the shear arising from the horizontal push of the principal rafters, or by fitting them into slots formed in the ceiling. In the case of concrete ceilings, iron bars incorporated into the concrete can be used to anchor the longitudinal beams.
