1-Phenylpiperazines of formula (I) are new together with their quaternary and acid-addn. salts: (where R1 is H, halo, 1-6C alkyl, 1-6C alkoxy or CF3; R2 is 5-8C cycloalkyl; phenyl (1-6C)alkyl, furyl-(1-6C)alkyl or thienyl(1-6C)alkyl opt. substd. by one, or two or three halo, 1-6C alkyl or 1-6C alkoxy; the gp. -C(R3R4).C=CH; R3 and R4 singly are H or 1-6C alkyl; or R3+R4 and the attached C-atom form a 5-7C cycloalkyl ring; n is 2 or 3). A pref. cpd., 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-(3-cyclohexyloxypropyl)piperazine dihydrochloride, was prepd. by heating a mixt. of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-(3-chloropropyl)piperazine, cyclohexanol and aq. NaOH at 100 degrees C, extracting with ether and acidifying the extract with HCl.
