Gas fired domestic hot water boiler - has inclined heater battery to produce natural convection and eliminate overheating

The boiler has a gas burner (4) below a finned tube heater battery (2). Water flows through the battery and is heated by the gases from the burner. The battery is placed at a slight angle to be horizontal so that as the water is heated it is set into circulation by natural convection. The heater water flows into a jacket (7) surrounding a domestic hot water cylinder. A branch (14, 15) is also taken to a space heating circuit the flow which is controlled by a three way valve (13) on the inlet. The burner (4) is controlled by a thermostat (5) in the water leaving the heater battery.
