Thermal profile monitor for hot surfaces - using pyrometer connected to microprocessor printing graph of temp. profile

The appts. consists of a pyrometer, pref. an infrared pyrometer, measuring the temps. of a surface via a mobile deflector which scans the surface along a prescribed path; the pyrometer is connected to a computer processing the signals received and linked to a control keyboard plus a visual display indicator and a printer providing a record of the measurements, esp. as a graph. The deflector is pref. a mirror inclined at 45 degrees w.r.t. the pyrometer axis and picking up IR radiation from the surface being monitored. A photoelectric or magnetic detector monitors the angle at which the surface is viewed. On measuring head pref. contains the pyrometer, deflector, angle detector, and an alarm triggered if the temp. of the head exceeds a prescribed value. Used esp. for a blast furnace charge or a sintering be or other surfaces exposed to dust.
