摘要
Regulation of the supply of current to electrodes for a metallurgical furnace for the melting of metals involves measuring continuously the deriv. of the surface temp. of the walls with time and lowering the supply voltage to the electrodes when the deriv. exceeds a predetermined level. During the first part of melting corresponding to the consumption of half of the energy necessary to melt the materials in the furnace, the level is a first value and during the second half of melting, the level is a second value lower than the first value. The invention reduces installation costs and enables a cheaper and more simple form of installation to be used as well as enabling wear on the furnace walls to be reduced.
