The reactor comprises a vertical cylindrical vessel with an internal vertical wall extending from the circumference to a point beyond the axis of the vessel. The wall is not straight and incompletely separates two successive processing zones, i.e. a first phase reaction zone and a second phase maceration zone. In horizontal cross-section, the line of the wall is pref. sinusoidal. Produces a higher speed of flow through the first zone than in the second zone. A premixer can be used to combine the raw materials before they are introduced to the reactor. Used for continuous mfg. process for H3PO4 with CaSO4 as a by-prod. The reactor is a compact single shell reactor with the control facilities of cascade reactors.
