The grip or clamp for a cable entering a plug or socket prevents disconnection at the electrodes, wire breakage etc. whent the cable is unreasonably pulled and automatically centres it. The grip is integral with the connector body and can be formed as part of the moulding process. Cabling is hedl by two tongues (21) generally pointing towards the electrode end of the connector, each tongue terminating in a pillar (30) which has some form of wing or wings and/or ridges which press into the cable screening. The flexibility of the tongues can be varied by introducing walls (35) at some point along their length. A free or threaded pillar (15) is similarly moulded into a each half of the shell to allow them to be bolted together.
