The partial hip replacement prosthesis has a stainless steel femoral head which is coated with a chrome oxide layer. The spherical head is received in a plastics cup with inner and outer spherical surfaces which is itself received in another plastics cup fitted into the acetabulum. The interior dia. of the fixed cup is equal to that of the outer dia. of the free one. The movement between the femoral component and the middle cap and between the two co-operating cup eliminates the risk of any relative movement between the femoral and acetabular components.
