The prestressed cellular panel is of timber and may be used to deck elevated walkways. It is mounted on scaffolding frameworks. It may have a substructure of three equally spaced rectangular sectionlongerons (14) connected by cross-beams at each end (12) and the mid point (B). A laminate (11) covers each major face, being bonded to the relevant faces. Longitudinal steel prestressing cables (15) may be used, one midway between each pair of longerons (14) both anchored (16) in the top zones of the end traverses (12). Both are deflected by passing beneath the centre traverse (13). The effective strength may be doubled, and the laminate (11) may be of glass fibre reinforced resins.
