The system is for simulating live music and uses two recording devices such as record discs or magnetic tapes on which the same music is recorded with the discs or tapes moving at different speeds to one another. On replaying the discs or tapes through respective right and left loudspeakers a number of effects can be obtained. By inhibiting one device during recording or playback, the sound can be provided from one side of the listener. By synchronising the devices with one delayed relative to the other an echo effect is obtained. During recording, by introducing a delay in the recording of one device relative to the other while its speed is increased with the other's being reduced slowly, a Doppler effect can be obtained giving the illusion of movement of the music source.
