The constant pressure metering pump used in automobile fuel systems is connected to a constant torque motor (3) by a common shaft (2). The pump inlet (1a) is connected to a fuel tank and the discharge to a carburettor reservoir. The motor has a speed measurement device such as a ferromagnetic ring (5) with castellations (6) detected by a magnetic receiver connected to a digital readout. The pump (1)can be entrained indirectly through a series of parallel grooves either at the same speed or at a reduced speed.
