The pressure and/or flow of gas are regulated so that the flow to a consumer is maintained at a given pressure. Reduced size of a regulating installation allows it to be located below ground level thus obviating requirements for construction of a cabin. A regulator module (10) is isolated by valves (13, 14) and comprises a lower envelope (21) to which the inlet (52) is connected. The gas enters a chamber (24) at high pressure to pass through a filter (2) to a central chamber (25) to which the outlet (33) is connected. In this chamber, the gas flows through control (3) and active (4) regulators and also a rapid shut-off valve (5). An upper chamber (26) contains two servo controllers (7, 8) which control the regulators. A control (43) operates the shut-off valve.
