Couplings for rubbish disposal chute systems for linking primary ducts, bins, etc. are made from flexible hose of fire- and chemical-resistant sheet or coated fabric reinforced with spiral metal wires and terminating in suitable metal collars, opt. incorporating a slide valve. Lighter and more versatile to install than segmented metal couplings to accommodate variations in level and/or alignment, also quieter in use. Specifically claims such adaptors of 400-500 mm bore made of polyamide coated fabric or flexible PVC pref. 0.8-4 mm thick and reinforced with spiral wire of 2.5-6, pref. 3-4 mm diam. inlaid with a pitch of 50-100, pref. 60-80 mm. The terminal couplings are pref. made of galvanised steel.
