Camper van with electrically operated bed - uses winch mounted inside bed to raise and lower it so that sleeping inside driving cabin is possible

The camper-van has an automatically lowered bed which rests against the roof of the driver's compartment when not in use and is raised and lowered by an electrically driven winch. In the lowered position the bed is suspended above the steering wheel and driver's seat. The bed base (1) lies across the vehicle and has, mounted inside the bed frame, an electric motor (6) coupled to a shaft (7) running the width of the bed. One side of the bed is supported on vertical tracks (19) fixed to the vehicle behind the drivers seat. The other edge is supported by a flexible strap (21). Pulleys (8,9,10, 11) fixed to the motor driven shaft have cables (12,13) wound round them. The other end of the cables are fixed to lugs attached to the vehicle roof (14). Operation of the electric motor winds, or unwinds, the cables round the pulleys, raising, or lowering.
