The turning tool is for woodworking, consisting of a gouge forming bar of constant profile and with a straight portion of right-angled triangular section (3), with a sharpened groove (6) at one end. This groove is of isosceles triangle section, on the centre line of the bar in the lengthwise direction, and with its bottom at an acute angle to this centre line. The groove forms two cutting edges (9,10) with the lengthwise surfaces of the bar constituting the large base and the hypotenuse of the right-angled triangle section.
