Continuous transport of material, esp. sludge in decanters - using scraper blades located on trolleys, esp. where decanters are used to purify crude water

At least two tanks are stacked vertically; and the sludge is one tank is moved along the length of this tank, followed by moving the sludge along the length of the next higher tank in the stack. In the case of three or more tanks, the sludge is removed simultaneously from the tanks with odd numbers, and then simultaneously from the tanks with even numbers. In the pref.plant, each tank base has rails for a trolley; and all the trolleys are driven by a single cable. Each trolley has a scraper blade which can be lowered to scrape the sludge off the base of the tank. Used e.g. in the purificn. of crude water by adding Al(OH)3 to ppte. impurities as sludge.
