The continuous flow water heater has a low water safety device with high and low pressure chambers. These chambers are separated from each other by a piston and are joined to the stream path at points of differing pressure. This piston forms, with a push rod, an hydraulic setter for the heating energy supply. A water vol. controller is provided in the inflow runner of the high pressure chamber, while a delay is provided in its discharge pipe. The valve body of the delay valve is kept in the open state through a timer when a following fill nozzle is opened. The delay valve immediately releases a throttle opening in the water flow path when the fill nozzle is opened. The effective cross-section of the throttle aperture roughly equals the lowest control cross-section of the water vol. control.
