The fitting (1) makes a demountable saddled joint on an existing pipe (C), being of a moulded plastics construction, and for the installation of a valve etc. It uses a base of a rectangular outline secured to the pipe (C) by means of two screw (52)-tensioned straps (34). A central passage (15) of a circular cross section locates a slidable sleeve (16) with compressible sealing rings (44,2) and a stop-rib (14) defines a spigot (36) into which a coupling pipe (35) is screwed. The underside opening of the passages (15) is rebated (39) to locate saddle (3), and two pipe-straps (34) are suspended from built-in bars (30) either side of the passage (15). A screw (52) with a hexagonal socket (H) is driven down to tension the strap (34) and secure the pipe (C).
