Installation to protect shrubs herbaceous plants etc. from frost - blows air and diffuses aq. spray down onto protected area

The installation comprises a vertical mast centred in the area to be protected. From the top of the mast, a fan blows air downwards and an aq. fluid is atomised through spray nozzles. At the top of the mast is mounted a housing which can be rotated about the vertical axis of the mast. A power driven shaft projects from the housing, its axis inclined slightly down towards the ground. The shaft is fitted with a propeller blade which blows air towards the ground as the shaft turns, the housing itself being simultaneously turned around the vertical axis of the mast. At the same time a fine aq. spray is diffused from the top of the tower. Comparatively warm air is driven down towards the ground area to be protected. By injecting an acetylenic type of gas into the spray liq., the droplets simulate a natural, protective mist. The dosing pump can inject bactericide to eliminate cultures which can otherwise seed infracellular crystallisation of water in freezing conditions.
