The tool trims the edges of lawns, flower borders etc., and has a circular rotary cutter disc (5) cutting along the edge. A shoe (8) slides over the surface of the lawn to keep the edge at a constant height, and there can also be a deflector (11) fixed to the tool, freeing the lower part of the cut edge and discharging the spoil. This deflector can have an edge adjacent to the disc, a cutting edge, and a lower end protruding below the disc periphery. The deflector and the shoe can be on opposite sides of the disc, the vertical distance between the lower end of the deflector and the shoe being adjustable, so as to determine the height of the lawn edge.
