Clavichord virginal and spinet construction - uses conventional parts with additional angle blocks receiving wedges and secondary frame behind wedge stops
The method of making clavichords, virginals and spinets uses the usual frame (5), wedges (4), wedge stops (3), base (1) and cross pieces (18). From a cut out (13) on which the wedge stops are stuck for the frame is formed another frame (14). This is positioned at the correct height by grooved cross pieces (18). There are also grooved angle blocks (20) receiving the wedges. In the case of a virginal or spinet the register bar, stuck to the frame (5) has equidistant holes (25) for the modular parts (26) of the felt pad guides. The cut out bottom has cross grooves formed in it.
