Phenolic resin foam insulating material - contg. plaster as foaming agent and sand, earth or plant waste as filler

In the prepn. of a phenolic resin foam insulating body, in which plaster is used as foaming agent, the improvement comprises incorporating up to 80 vol.% w.r.t. initial vol. of resin + plaster, of an (in)organic material (I) of fine or medium granulometry, opt. with manure. A harder, cheaper prod. is obtd. which can be e.g. in the building industry. The properties of the resin, partic. heat insulating capacity and mechanical strength, are not affected by addition of (I). (I) is e.g. sand, earth or plant waste. The foam is obtd. by placing the resin, plaster, (I) and other addition (e.g. an oil or a waterproofing agent) into a mould and adding an acid (e.g. oxalic, sulphuric or phosphoric) which reacts with the plaster to form the resin and also acts as hardener.
