Bitumastic road dressing containing chopped steel wool - to enhance penetration and skid resistance

A road surfacing material based on bitumen is partly filled with chopped steel wool, to improve resistance to indentation and inhibit skidding. Loadings of about 2.5% by wt. are effective without preventing deposition by conventional spreading procedures. May be used together with other typical fillers, i.e. sand and/or gravel.
