Record player with built-in sound-to-light system - uses low power lamps incorporated in speaker cabinets and driven by current monitor circuit in series with speaker lead

A light system has a set of low power lights of different colours mounted in series and supplied through a low power amplifier (18) from a low frequency amplifier (10) which also supplies a loudspeaker (12). The low power amplifier is pref. a current amplifier. The lights are pref. mounted in the cover of a box (20) housing the circuitry, the cover having a reflecting plate (30) which reflects different colours depending on the lights energised. Coloured filters may also be used, mounted in the loudspeaker chamber, with the lights behind the filters. Actuation of the lights is dependent in amplitude of the signal applied and not on frequency, thus reducing the cost.
