An automobile sun-visor is made using compression moulding to enclose a pre-cut core panel between layers of one or more sheet thermoplastic matls. and fuse the borders of the covers by e.g. high frequency welding. Esp. for mfr. of visors having covers of fabric and/or thermoplastic (PVC) film around a core of e.g. thermoplastic or thermosetting foam of 20-200 kg/m3 density or of a bulky cardboard structure. Requires less expensive tooling and shorter production cycles than processes using injection moulding to produce complex covers around an insert. Pref. the visor has an internal reinforcing sleeve to accept a supporting pivot rod and a moulded recess to accept an accessory such as a mirror secured by a clipped or stapled cover. Opt. a thin layer of expanded thermoplastic matl. is incorporated between the cover and the core, for greater adaptability.
