Carburettor for IC engine - has perforated tube for fuel outlet with plug controlled by engine load

The carburettor contains a perforated cylindrical tube (3) through which liq. fuel is drawn into the air stream. A plug (4) on the end of a rod (5) slides inside the tube. According to its position in the tube a larger or smaller number of the perforations (1) are left free for the fuel to leave by. The rod (5) is connected to a spring loaded membrane (7) one side of which is connected (10) to the engine suction. This moves the membrane with the rod and plug according to the engine load so that the engine load controls the number of perforations (1) open.
