Slide rule for quick times to prothrombin generation rate conversion - uses multiple slide rule to convert quick times obtained in blood clotting tests to rates of clotting enzyme generation

The slide rule converts the results of the Quick time measurement of blood clotting to a rate of clotting enzyme generation. The slide has the time obtained from the Quick test marked on it, and the fixed part has the corresponding prothrombin percentage in the blood marked on it. Multiple scales are provided, each corresponding to a particular value of the difference between the Quick times obtained from a 30% dilution of the test serum and from an undiluted blood sample. When the results of the Quick tests are available the value of S is calculated and the column headed with the value of S closest to the calculated value is selected. The test time for undiluted plasma then locates the rate of prothrombin generation on the % scale, with the therapeutic zones indicated by a different colour.
