The safety hook has a curved body (2) with an opening which is closed by a pivoted link (7). There is an elongation (8) for suspension and locking for the closing link, and the link is mounted using a pair of ears (18). One end of the hook has an eye (5) which is aligned with a bore in the ears. A cross pin (6) is carried in webs (13a) of the ears. At the free end of the link is a bridge piece (15) which cooperates with a hook part on the free end of the curved body to lock it shut.
