Solenoid valve for gas regulation - has pressure balancing to reduce electric power requirement and uses membrane fixed to stem of poppet type valves which are EM actuated
The solenoid valve is used to regulate the flow of a gas and has sealing membranes fixed round the stems of the poppet type valve which control the gas flow, balancing the gas pressure on the valve heads, and reducing the power requirement of the electromagnets which position the valve. The valve uses dual chambers (6,9), with the gas admitted (7) to the first chamber (6) by a first, electromagnet (13) positioned, poppet valve (2) which has a pressure balancing membrane (21) attached to its stem (17). The gas is allowed into the outlet chamber (9) by a second electromagnet (14) positioned valve (3) which also has a pressure compensating membrane (22) fixed to its stem (18). An anti-return valve (11) allows exit of the gas and a pressure regulator (V) is fitted to the outlet chamber (9).
