Hammer for crushing domestic refuse - is made of tough, wear resistant cast steel

The hammer has a trapezoidal shape, which is widened and rounded in the working region, and is made of cast steel, clad with a hard alloy in the working region. Pref. the hammer is made of a quenched and tempered cast steel contg. (by wt.) 0.2-0.3% C, 0.3-1.2% Si, 0.6-1% Mn, 0.2- 0.8% Ni, 0.1-0.5% Mo, 0.3-1.2% Cr and 0.02-0.08% Al. The shape of the hammer leads to improved crushing efficiency and removal of crushed material. The cast steel has high hardness (280-390 HB), high wear and abrasion resistance and high impact strength (10J absorbed energy in CVN test).
