The contactor has a fixed contact formed from multiple fingers closely spaced round a spring loaded cylindrical inertia block, and a cylindrical moving contact which is driven co-axially to the space between the contact fingers. The two sets of contacts are formed as cylinders, lying on a common axis. The assembly is housed in a cylindrical enclosure. The fixed contact is formed from multiple contact fingers evenly spaced around a cylindrical inertia block which has a spring behind it to absorb the kinetic energy from the moving cylindrical contact to reduce bounce of the contact fingers as the moving contact is driven between them. The contactor is electromagnetically actuated by a coil facing a disc integral with the moving contact.
