The extension leaf increases the working surface of office tables or desks, co-operating with a fixed leaf into which it retracts. It incorporates two parallel slide-tracks and two pin-jointed legs. The tracks co-operate with complementary fixed leaf formations to ensure guiding during opening and closing movements. The fixed leaf is made from timber or chipboard etc., with linings to the top and the edges, affixing to a metal structure which attaches to the desk etc., and which incorporates the tracks. The extension leaf is of a similar construction and is fixed to a secondary metallic structure which incorporates the remainder of the sliding gear. The assembled unit includes a device which automatically moves the legs into an operative position as the leaf is pulled out.
