Bullet trap for rifle grenade - has conical metal centre surrounded by wound fibrous sleeve and fitted to grenade base

The bullet trap is fixed on a projectile launched by a rifle. The trap stops the launching cartridge bullet and is made of a metal tube (5). This is thin walled and enclosed by a case (8) of high tensile fibres. The inner part is of steel or ductile alloy. The case (8) can be made of vegetable fibres or carbon fibres and epoxy resin. The metal centre can be formed of a front, threaded threaded (3) lug and a fixing shoulder (4) engaging the grenade body (1). The central hole is (6) tapered forward with a collar at the front.
