In the headlamp for a motor vehicle, the hole in the reflector for the filament lamp and the fitting has the shape of a paraboloid reflector with a focal point. The reflector is divided into two sections displaced w.r.t. each other and overlapping in the reflection areas. The focal points of the two sections are on the axes of the two reflection areas, one behind the other, with the lamp filament lying between the two. The reflector (1) is made from drawn or pressed sheet steel. The stepped transition (11) between the two sections of the reflector (8,9) is such that a circular area is formed around the hole (3) for the filament lamp.
