The load regulated brake valve (8) is connected between a master brake cylinder (1) and the wheel cylinders (4,6) and is in line with an inertial brake valve (10). Different loadings of the vehicle produce different sets of reactions for optimum brake control. Below a preset retardation, the brake control operates only in the load controlled mode. The inertial control valve extends the optimum brake control for stronger braking, when the effective centre of mass of the vehicle has altered by more than a preset amount. The brake control is suitable for vehicles with a high load carrying facility.
